Keystone Environmental Pledges Support to Cassie & Friends, a charity that supports children and their families who are dealing with childhood rheumatic diseases.

In keeping with the Culture of giving that is such a huge part of life at Keystone Environmental, it is our pleasure to announce that we have pledged to continue our support of “Cassie & Friends,” a charity that supports children with childhood rheumatic diseases, with a three-year commitment of $15,000.

A Little Background…
Keystone Environmental and Porte Realty/Development have worked together since the late 1990s. David Porte, President at Porte Development Corporation and his wife founded “Cassie & Friends in honour of their daughter Cassie who was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at a very young age.

Juvenile arthritis is a very debilitating disease that affects 3 in every 1,000 children, yet receives just a fraction of the funding and attention that other well-known (and less common) childhood diseases get. David and his wife saw first-hand the need for more research into this disease and for support of the families coping with it and started a new fundraising organization named after their daughter “Cassie.”
Keystone Environmental has supported the charity over the past four years and this spring, committed to continue its support and signed on to a three-year commitment for a minimum of $5,000 per year.

This weekend, as they do every year, “Cassie & Friends” will be entering a team in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge Run/Walk. This event is a major fundraiser for this cause. Every dollar pledged to the Cassie & Friends Team goes directly to fund research and support for children affected by this debilitating disease.

There is no other group in Canada doing what Cassie & Friends are doing for kids and families with childhood rheumatic diseases and we strongly encourage everyone to visit their website to learn more about “Cassie & Friends” and the incredible work they do.
